On February 1 the Head of Kyiv city organization of “Ukrainian Patriots Association –UKROP” Dmytro Simansky together with the leaders of the other political parties in Kyiv – Samopomich, Democratic Alliance, Power of People, Civil Position and Svoboda – met with the Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Andriy Magera. During the meeting the parties consulted about the CEC position concerning cancellation of the elections to Kyiv district councils on March 27.

According to him, the CEC is of the opinion that the decision of Kyiv District Administrative Court on cancelling the elections to district councils on March 27 is quite questionable and the lawsuit initiated by the NGO “Nazhdak”, whose rights were allegedly violated, should not be the reason for their cancellation.

“Kyivans want these elections, the CEC wants these elections, Kyiv city council that has made appropriate decisions, wants these elections. And we hope the Mayor of Kyiv wants the same,” said Dmytro Simansky, noting that any decision of the court should not impede the elections to Kyiv district councils on March 27.

The leaders of the relevant political forces are also going to ask the Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko to express his official position on the elections to the district councils and to join the fight so that they could be held.

It is to be recalled, today near the building of the CEC there was a rally where about three hundred activists of the pro-Ukrainian political forces gathered in order to require the elections to Kyiv district councils. Meanwhile, the heads of Kyiv city organizations of such political parties as Samopomich, Democratic Alliance, Power of People, Svoboda, Batkivshchyna and Civil Position brought to the CEC the documents on registration of the members of Kyiv district election commissions. When the representatives of the political forces managed to enter the building, the officials of the CEC received their documents for registration of the members of district TECs in Kyiv
