The Ukrainian authorities are too weak to defend the interests of our country in the world. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy on the air of Espresso TV channel.
“Ukraine is no longer wanted on the international arena – either economically or geopolitically. Our interests cannot be defended by the weak power and the president, who pays half a million dollars for a meeting with Trump,” said the UKROP member.
According to him, Ukraine will be able to win the war against Russia if we put pressure from the outside. First of all, it is necessary to apply the rules of the UN Charter and recognize the Russian Federation as an aggressor on the international level. This will formalize the status of prisoners of war for all Ukrainians who are currently kept captive by the Kremlin.
“According to the international humanitarian law, the Geneva Convention of 1949 on the treatment of prisoners of war should be applied. In such a case, the proper conditions of detention are to be ensured for these people and at least the representatives of the Red Cross are to be let to them,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.
At the same time, Ukraine should raise the issue of Russia’s exclusion from the UN Security Council because of violations of international obligations.
The representative of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” also said that the Ukrainian authorities should finally dare to impose martial law in the occupied territories. Such a decision will allow introducing some temporary restrictions in uncontrolled regions, if necessary.
Instead, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted the so-called law on reintegration, which contradicts the Ukrainian Constitution.
“The law on reintegration introduced anti-constitutional restrictions for the residents of the occupied territories. No one can restrict a person from moving freely without an acting martial law,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.
