The Verkhovna Rada will appoint the new members of the Central Election Commission, when the authorities won’t be guided by the principle of greed in terms of their representation in the state authorities. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Iryna Konstankevych on the air of the parliamentary TV channel Rada.
“As long as the authorities are guided by the principle of greed in terms of their representation in state bodies, there will be no consent in parliament,” stressed the representative of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots”.
According to her, this week the parliament did not consider recommendation for new members of the CEC due to the lack of consensus among all factions. The presidential political force wants to delegate more of its representatives to the commission than it is prescribed by the current legislation. It is natural that other factions consider it a violation of their rights and insist on a fair distribution of positions within the body.
“The situation with the CEC is an example of how we should not act. I believe that the BPP should back off and clearly adhere to the legal framework when forming a representative body,” said the MP.
At the same time, the UKROP member has noted that the pro-government forces are interested in a controlled CEC before the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
