Under the current authorities, Ukraine will not get the prospect of NATO membership because of the high level of corruption in the state. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy on the air of NewsOne TV channel.
“We are not welcomed in NATO because of the high level of corruption. In the Alliance everybody sees it and question the feasibility of investments and material assistance, which are just stolen in Ukraine,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.
According to the UKROP member, billions of hryvnias of budgetary funds are dissolving in the defense sector of Ukraine every year. Top state officials, including, for example, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, are often involved in corruption schemes.
According to the official documents, in 2016 the defense establishment received from the company “Trade Commodity” 13 tons of fuel for the aircraft. However, the “delivered” product was physically not available. As a result of this fraud the total damage to the state reaches 200 million hryvnias.
“The law enforcement agencies refuse to open proceedings against the officials from the environment of the President Petro Poroshenko. But foreign embassies are monitoring the situation,” stressed the parliamentarian.
Vitaliy Kupriy has noted that despite the loud statements the Ukrainian authorities have even failed to ask NATO Membership Action Plan. That is why cooperation with the Alliance remains at the same level as it was four years ago.
