The Ukrainian authorities have changed the name of the events in the east of the state from the Anti-Terrorist Operation to the Operation of Joint Forces, but do not think about the end of the war. This was stated by Bohdan Yaremenko, chairman of the board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund, head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP during a chat in the analytical Internet resource Glavred.
“The anti-terrorist operation, in accordance with the Constitution and laws “On Defense of Ukraine” and “On the Fight against Terrorism”, is an illegal and false way to counter the external armed aggression (what we call the “war”),” explained the UKROP member.
According to him, the Ukrainian authorities have committed this serious system error for various reasons. And it complicates the conduct of operations, international negotiations and mobilization of society for the defense of the country.
Bohdan Yaremenko has reminded that the use of the Armed Forces on the territory of the country can take place only within the framework of a martial law that is to be imposed to repel foreign aggression.
“Without this, both the lawyers and, most importantly, the military will have doubts about the legitimacy of the participation of Ukrainian military units in what is happening in Donbas,” he emphasized.
Commenting on the so-called law on reintegration, the representative of UKROP has noted that from the point of view of the President of Ukraine the document is intended to accomplish several tasks. In particular, to increase his personal powers and control over the military units (which he could get only under conditions of a martial law), to find a way out of the legal conflict of using the Armed Forces without imposing martial law.
“As we can see, the end of the war is not being spoken about...” summed up Bohdan Yaremenko.
