In the fifth year of the war Russian spies continue to operate in Ukraine under the guise of diplomats. This was stated by the chairman of the board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund, head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP Bohdan Yaremenko on the air of ZIK TV channel.
“They are operating even in Ukraine, under the auspices of embassies, under the guise of diplomats. In the fifth year of the war the embassy is not closed, diplomatic relations are not cut off. There is an impression that we keep the opportunity for the Russians to work here, in particular by such means,” said the UKROP members.
According to him, in the modern world intelligence officers are often covered with diplomatic immunity. But unlike Western countries, the Kremlin’s special services have a much more powerful influence on domestic policy of the Russian Federation. The ruling elite of this country essentially consists of former spies and oligarchs. Therefore, the accusation of American media against the expelled Russian diplomats seems to be well-founded. The employees of the Kremlin diplomatic missions could spy upon former citizens of the Russian Federation on the instructions of their headship.
“It is true about Russia. Liquidations are carried out by the Russian Federation. And as we see it, it is precisely the liquidation of its former or current citizens,” stressed Bohdan Yaremenko.
However, in his opinion, the disclosure of this information is unlikely to affect the US-Russian relations, since they have already fallen to the lowest level since the Cold War.
