The United Nations does not meet modern security challenges, since it was created under completely different conditions. This was stated on the air of ZIK TV channel by the Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund, head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP Bohdan Yaremenko.

He has noted that the UN was founded during the period of a joint confrontation in order to prevent world wars. However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the situation has changed.

“Today the organization, which was established in 1947, no longer corresponds to modern realities in the world. We just should understand it and start to move towards something new,” explained Bohdan Yaremenko.

According to him, the world is actively changing, as well as the rules of wars that are being transformed. Now they occur in those areas that did not exist before. So far, a very small number of world governments are aware of the possibilities of global confrontations in the cybernetic space that are only beginning.

“That’s not only about the rules of peace and life in the world that are changing – the rules of wars are also being changed. Today there is no organization that would be entrusted and could answer all the questions,” said the UKROP member.

At the same time, he expressed doubts about the possibility of a profound reform of the United Nations. For example, the right of veto gives significant privileges and influences to five world players. And these countries are unlikely to refuse such an instrument.

“We should not play diplomacy, we should understand the realities. The world is really actively changing and not for the better,” stressed Bohdan Yaremenko.
