The “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” strongly condemns the repressive actions of the current authorities against Maidan activist, People’s Hero of Ukraine Ivan Bubenchyk. The head of UKROP, MP Taras Batenko wrote about it on his Facebook page.

He has stressed that the attempts of the law-enforcement agencies to get back at the battalion commander in a “legal way” are perceived by the political force as unwillingness of those in power to break diplomatic relations with Russia and increase in trade with an aggressor under conditions of an armed conflict.

“The authorities continue to fight against those whom they are most afraid of – not Russian aggressors, but activists and conscious citizens. We remind that in Ukraine none of the officials or politicians has been punished for the assassination of Heavenly Hundred, the crimes of Yanukovych’s regime are still incomplete in court, nobody is punished for the deaths of hundreds of volunteers and servicemen in Ilovaisk entrapment,” stressed Taras Batenko.

At the same time, the UKROP member drew attention to the fact that despite the existence of legislation providing amnesty for the participants of the events on Maidan in 2013-2014, the authorities are chasing and arresting the patriot who has devoted his life to the Ukrainian people and showed his readiness to make a sacrifice for its sake.

“The attempt to punish Ivan Bubenchyk will result in a situation when the Ukrainian authorities are out of law. Adding here its illegitimacy – lack of citizens’ support and trust. And then everyone will face severe political consequences that may be caused by further persecution of Ivan Bubenchyk,” said the head of UKROP.

The “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” calls on the authorities to put the interests of their people and the state above their fears.

“We urge the party members to join all legitimate actions in support of Ivan Bubenchyk. If our voice is ignored again, we will be ready to take part in street protest and direct democracy,” added the UKROP member.
