The Ukrainian authorities have completely lost the confidence of the Western partners because of their promises. This was stated in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel by the head of UKROP, MP Taras Batenko.

“The government doesn’t fulfill the promises given to its own people, but what is more it gives promises to the representatives of the international diplomatic corps and leaders of the countries and does not fulfill them. Confidence in power has fallen to the lowest level both inside the country and abroad,” said the MP.

According to him, even four years after the Revolution of Dignity corruption remains a top problem in Ukraine. Not only local community activists, but also leaders of the Western countries talk about it.

“If today we do not give a fitting reply to these signals, then we may lose the position of a civil society and actually nip the fight against corruption in Ukraine in the bud,” said Taras Batenko.

At the same time, he has noted that our state leaders could put a cross on Ukraine’s European integration due to the failure of anticorruption policy. Instead of a real fight against bribery, the authorities began an attack against public activists, forcing them to declare their incomes. The corresponding amendment to the Law “On Prevention of Corruption” was made by the representatives of the ruling coalition. In addition, it was adopted in violation of the current rules of the Verkhovna Rada.

However, sharp criticism from the West forced the authorities to retreat. The Ukrainian leaders are giving another promise – now to abolish the scandalous changes to the anti-corruption legislation.

“Today our authorities do not care about the European integration. Our authorities want to keep their positions and to tackle the problem with the hands of patriots who are not members of the coalition,” stated the UKROP member.
