The international community can strengthen sanctions against Russia for the annexation of the Crimea. This was stated by the head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko on the air of ATR TV channel.

“The world has finally begun to talk about the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia over the Crimea. They are cosmetic, too light for Russia. In the world, there are very large opportunities for putting pressure on Russia in the field of sea and air transportation. In fact, we can bring it to its knees with these sanctions,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.

According to him, Ukraine should work to ensure that in the international arena the issues of returning Crimea and Donbas were taken together.

“If we behave actively and reasonably, there is a prospect to change the situation. And we already see the achievements of Ukrainian diplomacy: a number of valuable resolutions of the UN, the Council of Europe, the European Union, and NATO on the Crimea. We need to move on. We need to make the issues of Donbass and the Crimea inseparable, as two elements of one war – of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” said the UKROP member.

Bohdan Yaremenko also suggested that in the near future an armed conflict of low intensity will continue in Donbas, but there will be no important events either there or on the Ukrainian-Russian border. But we still should be ready to repel a full-scale military attack on the part of Russia.
