The apathy and disbelief of society put Ukraine at the threshold of regular elections. In this difficult time, UKROP should return people faith in the possibility of change and honest politics. This was stated at the XIV Congress of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” by a well-known Ukrainian writer, a member of the party’s control commission Vasyl Shklyar.
“In the time of total apathy our task is to gain people’s confidence with our actions. In the age of hopelessness, we should restore their faith in the possibility of change and honest politics. We have no other way,” stressed the writer.
He has also noted that UKROP is rapidly gaining support of the Ukrainians in most of the country’s regions. This is evidenced by the results of local elections, in which the political force is confidently gaining leadership positions.
The writer noticed that the Congress of UKROP took place in the most difficult times when the metaphor of Taras Shevchenko “Ukraine on Fire” became timely again.
“We have always set justice and dignity above everything else. That’s how all our revolutions began. But the aspirations of the Ukrainians were trodden up. Wages show that the teacher today is not worth the little finger of a corrupt judge, and the scientist is not worth the nail of an official who looks at us not in the eye, but in his pocket,” stressed Vasyl Shklyar.
However, the worst thing lies not even in the shameful level of life and blatant social injustice. The trouble lies in despair and hopelessness that the irresponsible criminal power has sown in society, the writer is convinced.
“We have not won honest Ukraine yet. Instead of social lifts, we’ve got black holes. Instead of the promised freedoms, we have received only an identification code. We live in a country of absurdity, where in war-time the general does not know what the thermal viewer is,” stated Vasyl Shklyar.
