The head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Hontareva should prepare to move to Lukyanivska prison and not to the speeches from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel.
“We should not let Hontareva even at the door of the Verkhovna Rada, there is no need for any reports – her right place is in Lukianivska prison,” said the MP.
According to him, law enforcement agencies should investigate the planned deal with a surge in dollar’s course up to almost forty hryvnias under the guidance of Valeriya Hontareva.
As a result of artificial currency fluctuations in February-March 2015 the Ukrainian economy lost two billion euros.
However, the Prosecutor General’s Office and NABU refuse to investigate criminal proceedings against Valeriya Hontareva. This shows that she is under the full protection of the President Petro Poroshenko.
“There is no honest head of a law enforcement agency in Ukraine. We need to change power and put new people who will investigate these crimes at the head of security forces,” said the UKROP member.
At the same time, Vitaliy Kupriy criticized severely the activities of the acting Head of the National Bank Yakiv Smoliy, who may soon become the Head of the regulator.
The MP explained that among the main functions of the National Bank of Ukraine is to ensure the stability of the monetary unit, curbing inflation and ensuring economic growth. However, on March 1 the National Bank has raised for the fourth time in a row the refinancing rate of the banking system up to 17% per year. This means a rise in the cost of bank loans for business.
“What will be the economic growth after this? Who will take out bank loans? The leadership of the NBU, headed by Yakiv Smoliy, has failed to meet the set goals,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.
