Without changing the electoral law, the next reelection of the Verkhovna Rada will be a manipulation. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Valentyn Didych on the air of the parliamentary TV channel “Rada”.
“If we have elections without adopting new laws, they will turn into pure manipulation with the use of administrative resource,” said the UKROP member.
According to the parliamentarian, the current legislation allows the authorities to control the election process and interfere with it. This can be prevented only by introduction of a new electoral code, which provides for open lists of the political parties.
In addition, changes in electoral legislation are envisaged by the coalition agreement, which at one time was signed by the factions of the coalition.
“Parliament should fulfill its promises to the society, at least for the sake of the memory of the Heavenly Hundred,” said the MP.
Valentyn Didych has reminded that in the Verkhovna Rada there is still a draft electoral code, which was supported in the first reading by 226 deputies, including the representatives of UKROP.
At the initiative of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots”, several dozen local councils of various levels have officially called on the Parliament and the President to support the new electoral code. According to Valentyn Didych, the document should be finalized in the profile committee and then adopted.
