The society should analyze the mistakes that led to the annexation of the Crimea in 2014. However, the Ukrainians can hardly learn the truth about those events during the cadence of the current authorities.

This was stated by the Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, Chairman of the Board of "Maidan of Foreign Affairs" Fund Bohdan Yaremenko in the program "Right to Rule" on the air of "1+1" TV channel.

"We should learn the lessons and understand what was done wrong. However, I think that this will not happen under the current authorities," said the expert.

According to him, in order to understand what happened in 2014, it is necessary to analyze the current policy of the authorities regarding the occupants. For example, in Ukraine there are still affiliated branches of the Russian special services under the guise of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate and the federal agency Rossotrudnichestvo.

On the other hand, domestic mining and processing plants continue to ship ore to the enterprise of the odious oligarch Dmytro Firtash "Crimean Titan", which is located in the Crimea and pays taxes to the Russian budget.

Moreover, the working group on the development of amendments to the scandalous Law "On the creation of a free economic zone "Crimea" and on the peculiarities of economic activity in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine" includes deputies who own businesses on the annexed peninsula.

"These people will make decision on the changes in the Ukrainian laws, according to which we should defend, protect and return the Crimea, and according to which citizens of Ukraine should live in the occupied territory," said Bohdan Yaremenko.

In their turn, the high officials who were in power at the time of the annexation of the Crimea are calmly talking about the mistakes on TV channels, and some of them are even writing memoirs about the courageous lose in the military campaign. However, none of the officials bears responsibility as set forth by law.

"I have one question: if in your official duties it is written to defend Ukraine, to make a decision on the use of the Armed Forces, and you did not do it, who should be responsible for it?" asked the UKROP member.
