During three years of presidency Petro Poroshenko has failed to implement the promised reforms. Instead, the head of state has managed to turn the Verkhovna Rada into a mechanism for making the necessary laws. This was stated on the air of the Espresso TV channel by the head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, chairman of the board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko.
“The only “reform”, the President Petro Poroshenko can be personally congratulated on, is the transformation of the parliament into a mechanism for making the necessary laws. That’s what the president has managed to do,” said the UKROP member.
According to him, it concerns, for example, the recently adopted law “On the peculiarities of the state policy on ensuring Ukraine’s state sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions”. Under the guise of patriotic slogans, it actually extends only the powers of the president.
Bohdan Yaremenko has also noted that almost 90% of the reforms adopted by the parliament are delayed. So, citizens will feel their effect only in three or even five years.
“Therefore there is probably nothing to celebrate today,” stressed the representative of UKROP.
Instead of real reforms during the last few years, the authorities have introduced only a few structural changes in the spheres of economy, public administration, health and education.
“But there are big doubts whether Ukrainians will become more educated, healthy, or maybe they will live longer,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.
According to him, before the elections more promises of reforms, increases in salary and social standards for citizens can be expected from the authorities. However, all these steps should be backed up by real economic indicators, but we cannot speak about it now.
