The international donors demand that Ukraine launch an anti-corruption court, as they no longer trust the current authorities. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Oleksandr Shevchenko in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel.
“The situation in Ukraine resembles sport fishing: TV shows films about catching of flagrant corrupt officials. But in the end nothing happens – all bribe-takers remain at liberty,” said the UKROP member.
The parliamentarian has reminded that the international community has been waiting for the creation of an independent court in Ukraine since 2014. However, the officials have got their positions again according to a quota principle, and as a result the majority of judges has become controlled by the president or members of the ruling coalition.
According to Oleksandr Shevchenko, finally in Ukraine a truly democratic anti-corruption court should start working. Without this, our country can lose the trust of our international partners at all. However, its launch is delayed because of bargaining between those willing to gain control over the judges.
“The president, who will make the judicial branch independent, will allow the laws on impeachment and recall of the officials from their positions, will win fame. He will be remembered for many years,” said the MP.
At the same time, he has stressed that the international donors should not have any impact on the anti-corruption court, as Ukraine can lose its sovereignty as a result of such a control.
“With corruption the authorities have driven themselves into a situation when they can no longer protect our sovereignty, because no one believes them,” said Oleksandr Shevchenko.
