The “Ukrainian Association of Patriots – UKROP” requires the President of Ukraine and pro-presidential majority to publicly explain the reasons for delaying consideration of the draft law “On the peculiarities of state policy on ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions”, submitted by the head of the state, in the second reading.

“Some vague suggestions of the deputies from the ruling party concerning “the need to think several moves ahead” are nothing but a mockery of a common sense taking into consideration complete inability of the Ukrainian authorities to find effective ways to stop the fire for more than three and a half years and to create a general framework for resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Moreover, recently the President of Ukraine has actually shifted responsibility for conducting negotiations on these issues to foreign diplomats,” considers UKROP.

The party stresses that the Verkhovna Rada should not serve the endless and fruitless negotiations of foreign states with Russia. Instead, the supreme legislative body should return the state of Ukraine to the legal framework for repelling armed aggression. This is important not only in order to explain to the world community what is happening in the east of our country, but also to fulfill the obligations of the state to its own people under conditions of war.

“The authorship of the mentioned bill is not important. The decision on what should be included in its text is the will of the Ukrainian parliament, which should act basing on the interests of the Ukrainian people and the laws of Ukraine,” stress the party representatives.

The “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” stresses that there is no reason why Russia cannot be called an aggressor in terms of law, and its actions in Ukraine – an armed aggression. Also, the party does not see grounds for continuing the activities of Russian diplomatic institutions in our country.

“The decision on recognition of Russia as an aggressor and the rupture of diplomatic relations should be adopted immediately, because we are late with it for almost four years,” are confident the UKROP members.
