Taras Batenko: Ukraine is threatened with a collapse in a new year without a law on individual gas meters installation

The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada is blocking the bill “On amendments to the law of Ukraine “On ensuring commercial gas metering”, which provides for the installation of individual gas meters. This was written by the chairman of the UKROP political council, MP Taras Batenko on his Facebook page.

“The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada for some unknown reasons is blocking the bill on the installation of individual gas meters. Without this document from the beginning of the new year Ukraine is threatened with a real social fallout and gas collapse!” stressed the MP.

According to Taras Batenko, the representatives of UKROP and other parliamentary factions unanimously supported the relevant bill at a meeting of the profile committee more than a week ago. However, the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada deliberately detains its registration, regularly referring to the incorrect filing of accompanying documents or the lack of guidance, which is a common get-away.

“The MPs from UKROP are co-authors of the bill. And we insist on its prompt adoption!” stressed the parliamentarian.

Taras Batenko is convinced, if the Verkhovna Rada does not adopt the bill during the last plenary week, tens of thousands of Ukrainian consumers, who are against the installation of utility meters, can be cut off gas already on the first day of 2018!

It is to be recalled, earlier the MPs from UKROP submitted to the Parliament’s consideration a draft law No. 6277-1 “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On ensuring commercial gas metering” providing installation of individual meters for household natural gas consumers”.

However, parliamentarians decided to withdraw the document in favor of a consolidated bill of several factions, which is more likely to get the required 226 votes in parliament.
