The UKROP members continue exchanging views with the representatives of the diplomatic corps who work in Ukraine. Today, the Chairman of the UKROP political council, MP Taras Batenko, MP Iryna Konstankevych, Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, Chairman of the Board of Maidan of Foreign Affairs Fund Bohdan Yaremenko and the Head of the Party Secretariat Denys Borysenko met with the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk at the main office of UKROP. Notably a foreign diplomat freely conducted a conversation in Ukrainian.
During the conversation, they talked about the current political situation in the country and the effective tools for solving urgent problems. In particular, Taras Batenko stressed the necessity of adopting a new Electoral Code, the law on reintegration of Donbas, and told about preparation for the elections at different levels in Ukraine.
“We seek for a peaceful settlement of the current crisis in the state and insist on fair and transparent election rules,” remarked Taras Batenko.
The interest of the Canadian representative was attracted to the party’s position on the issue of teaching languages of national minorities. In response the MP Iryna Konstankevych has informed him about the problem of language adaptation of the representatives of national minorities in Ukraine, as well as difficulties in entering the universities due to lack of knowledge of the state language. The participants of the conversation agreed on the necessity to find a complicated balance in order to simultaneously meet the interests of national minorities and resolve the issues of Ukraine’s national security.
