It is necessary to create conditions for the protection of the agricultural land market in Ukraine. Such a point of view was expressed by the chairman of the UKROP political council, MP Taras Batenko on the air of “Pryamyi” TV channel.
“Most people are not ready and do not accept the immediate opening of the land market. The process should be started gradually,” said the politician.
He has noted that the representatives of UKROP in the Verkhovna Rada are ready to support the extension of the moratorium on land sale for one more year. Besides, the parliament has already developed the tradition of prolonging such a restriction every year in December. But during this time, the authorities should take a number of steps that will protect the current owners of land after the opening of the market.
“It is necessary to prepare the society. We really understand that today there are many people in Ukraine who want to sell their land spots. But we cannot allow people to sell the plots for nothing,” said Taras Batenko.
According to the MP, the Ukrainian authorities should first of all take measures that will prevent the purchase of land by large landowners who have already captured most of the peasants’ plots in the form of rent.
Instead, farmers should get an access to cheap loans for the purchase of agricultural equipment. To this end a land bank should start working in the country.
In addition the mechanisms preventing the transfer of land to foreigners, in particular the residents of the Russian Federation should be provided. “Why will Russia make war against us and take our territory away if they can enter Ukraine by buying land,” explained Taras Batenko.
