The officials who committed crimes against Ukraine and its citizens under Viktor Yanukovych will be punished only after political lustration in the central authorities. Such an opinion was expressed by the head of UKROP Advisory and Expert Group Dmytro Simansky in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel.

“We will continue to go around in circles between NABU, SAP, DBR, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security Service of Ukraine, until we do the most important thing that has not been done in these four years – political lustration,” he said.

According to the UKROP member, dissolution of the “Berkut” special unit, replacement of the ministers or appointment of new heads of local administrations will not bring results until the country is still led by those who were holding high positions before 2014.

Dmytro Simansky has stressed that riding on the wave of Maidan, the authorities have changed the faces, but the old system continues to operate: “We need to change the system as effectively as at one time we ousted Yanukovych. Let’s battle on and win our battle!”

He has also noticed that the Revolution of Dignity gave the opportunity to the Ukrainians to start building a new country. However, the current leadership of the state failed to revive the economy, carry out effective reforms or conduct competitive elections. Moreover, in four years those guilty of beating and killing people on Maidan have not even been punished.

According to Dmytro Simansky, the authorities have less and less time to solve the urgent problems that are overwhelming in society within the legal framework.

“People have so many complaints because of the lacking justice, that, I’m afraid, they will seek for their solution in a different way,” summed up the representative of UKROP.
