Four years after the Revolution of Dignity, the authorities are trying to destroy political competition, violating the principle of non-interference in the electoral process. This was said in a video statement by the chairman of the UKROP political council, MP Taras Batenko.

“During these four years, a lot of things have changed, except for the system of governance. As we haven’t removed these corrupt officials from their positions and have not changed the “notions”. The current authorities have inherited in many respects all the worst things from their predecessors,” noted the parliamentarian.

According to Taras Batenko, another alarming signal was the changes to the Law “On Civil Service”, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.

In addition, the officials – from heads of regional state administrations to ordinary officials in district state administrations – received the right to represent and lead political parties.

In the opinion of the MP, it is obvious that local officials will be forced to join the pro-government political forces.

“We are ashamed of such actions of the authorities. We believe that any power corrupts. Great power corrupts more. And absolute power corrupts absolutely,” said Taras Batenko.

UKROP calls on all the patriots who are willing to participate in the elections to the united communities, and subsequently to the Verkhovna Rada, to prevent the collapse of democratic freedoms and to monitor the situation with interference in the election process by the heads of regional and district administrations.

The “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” will fight against it. And we will do everything to ensure that Maidan’s achievements remained the benchmark that will bring Ukraine out of this ruin where it is today,” said Taras Batenko.
