The Ukrainian authorities should dare to cut off diplomatic relations with Russia. This was stated by the Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko on the air of 5th TV channel.
“Invasion of Russian troops, occupation – this is already an act of aggression, after which it is possible to cut off diplomatic relations,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.
The politician agreed with the position of the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov, according to whom penetration of the Russian sabotage groups into Ukraine is a sufficient reason to cut off diplomatic relations. However, according to the representative of UKROP, the Ukrainian legislation does not have a direct reference to a person or department authorized to make an appropriate decision.
Given this Bohdan Yaremenko suggested that the decision to cut off diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation should be made by the president, who is responsible for the state foreign policy: “The one who has the right to establish such relations should be responsible to cut them off”.
In addition, the UKROP member has added that Ukraine should finally resolve its foreign-policy disputes and defend its national interests. This particularly concerns Hungary that threatens to block Ukraine’s integration into the EU because of the law on education.
In this regard, Bohdan Yaremenko has stressed the inadmissibility of any concessions by the Ukrainian authorities in matters of domestic policy required by other states.
