The state should provide support for the Ukrainian cinema, since modern cinema cannot be filmed with the cameras from the last century. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Iryna Konstankevych.

“Ukrainian cinema is already an important part of national culture of the 20-21th centuries. We can speak about sustainable development only if this industry will have the appropriate technical and financial support,” she said.

According to the MP, the authorities should understand the significance of the cinema, in particular, for the promotion of Ukraine in the world. For example, on November 7, the Verkhovna Rada introduced five-year tax breaks for the production, distribution and demonstration of domestic films and temporarily exempted import duties from cinema manufacturing.

Meanwhile, cinematography also needs financial help. In this regard, Iryna Konstankevych called on the Parliament to support the draft law No. 3240 aimed at protection of the articles in the state budget in support of cinematography, which was sent on October 7 to be amended.

“In order to produce high-quality films that could compete with European ones, a qualitative level is needed. You cannot shoot modern cinema with the cameras of the last century. The film cannot claim victory in prestigious festivals, if you save on everything, including costumes,” said the representative of UKROP.
