The mass protests that have recently taken place in Ukraine show citizens’ total distrust in the current authorities. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Oleksandr Dubinin on the air of the parliamentary TV channel “Rada”.

“According to the results of all sociological surveys, only 5-10% of citizens trust the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Presidential Administration. This means that there is no trust, but all officials remain at their places,” said the MP.

At the same time, Oleksandr Dubinin has added that unlike Ukraine the parliaments of most civilized states of the world are actively responding to mass protests.

In some countries, even special parliamentary commissions are set up to investigate the demands of activists and initiate appropriate legislative decisions. High-ranking officials, with whose actions the society is dissatisfied, resign at their own will or they are dismissed.

Instead, in Ukraine, none of the officials has left his post at the request of citizens even four years after the Revolution of Dignity.

According to Oleksandr Dubinin, the Verkhovna Rada should listen to the demands of the protesters on October 17 and adopt a law on the abolition of parliamentary immunity. However, it should be abolished only together with the adoption of the law on the presidential impeachment.
