On October 13 under the Hungarian Consulate in Uzhgorod, the UKROP party in Zakarpattya held a rally in support of the new Ukrainian Law “On Education”.

More than a hundred Zakarpattya residents joined the event, including students, employees of various institutions and pensioners.

The participants of the action held the slogans in their hands: “It’s time to stop blackmailing Ukraine on the international arena”, “Every Ukrainian should speak state language”, “Say “no” to interference of Hungary in Ukraine’s internal affairs”, “It’s time to stop exacerbating the situation in Zakarpattya”, etc.

Among the protesters there were Deputy Head of UKROP in Zakarpattya Vitaliy Popovych and Heads of UKROP district centers in Uzhhorod – Oleksandr Kuznetsov and in Mukachevo – Milan Solyanik.

“We have gathered here to support the Law “On Education” so that students learn the Ukrainian language from the first year of study. How can you live in Zakarpattya in Berehove and do not know Ukrainian? How can I realize my potential without it in Ukraine? We stand for learning Hungarian, Polish, Czech and other languages of national minorities, but learning the Ukrainian language in our state should be obligatory,” said Bohdan Zaviyskiy, participant of the action and UKROP member.

The protesters claim that their event is a response to the actions against the Ukrainian Law “On Education”, which are scheduled to be held in Budapest.
