The authorities should listen to the opinion of the political opponents and agree to consolidate the two bills registered in the Verkhovna Rada on restoring sovereignty in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was stated by the chairman of the UKROP political council, MP Taras Batenko in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel.
“We want a normal discussion, we would also like the authorities not to seek enemies among their political opponents, because today they are looking for them there. Please consolidate, take everything better from there,” said Taras Batenko.
The MP has noted that before submitting the bill to Parliament, the authorities should discuss it with the public, and not having prepared a document of vital importance for the country secretly for almost nine months.
At the same time, the representative of UKROP has stressed that there are positive initiatives in both of the bills on Donbas registered in the Rada, but the documents need to be finalized.
In particular, the provisions that secretly legalize the Minsk agreements through a reference to the UN Security Council resolution should be excluded from the presidential version. In addition, Parliament cannot support a document that allows restoring trade with the occupied territories.
Taras Batenko has also stressed that if the current version of the presidential bill is adopted, the Operational Headquarters of the Command will be able to independently determine the list of goods and the mode of their transportation through the line of separation.
In addition, the document provides ensuring social guarantees to the citizens from the occupied territories of Donbas, but the residents of the annexed Crimea are not mentioned in the text.
At the same time Taras Batenko has emphasized the need to implement the current Law “On Defense”, which requires the introduction of a martial law on the territory of confrontation in case of aggression.
