The authorities have secretly prepared a bill on the status of temporarily occupied territories, the content of which was discussed with the international partners, but not with the Ukrainian people.

The Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko has written about it on his Facebook page.

“Traditionally, a draft of one of the most important laws for our state is being prepared by the authorities behind the scenes, and the President of Ukraine and his political followers are whispering with the foreign partners rather than talking to their people,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.

The politician has stressed that for consideration in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the status of temporarily occupied territories of Donbas should undergo a broad public and expert discussion, if the authorities really think how to win the war and unite the society.

“The draft law should not contain any references to Minsk agreements. If the “peace plan” is so dear to President Poroshenko, let him conclude an international treaty with Russia through international mediation and submit it for ratification to the Verkhovna Rada. Everything else will be mockery of law, parliamentarism and democracy in Ukraine,” stressed Bohdan Yaremenko.

According to him, our country should repel Russia’s armed aggression within the framework of national legislation, in particular the Law “On Defense”, which provides the introduction of a martial law and the establishment of the Supreme High Command General Headquarters in Ukraine. At the same time, all temporarily occupied territories, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, should have the same status.

“The approach when first we will solve the problem of Donbas, and then we will deal with the Crimea – this is another Budapest memorandum for Ukraine,” wrote Bohdan Yaremenko.

The UKROP member has also stressed the need to prohibit any commercial ties with the occupied territories and ensure the full economic blockade.
