The government does not propose to reform the pension system so that it could allow people to live in a decent way, instead it is pushing its everyday work under the guise of reform. This was stated on the air of ZIK TV channel by the Head of Advisory Expert Group of the UKROP party Dmytro Simansky.

“It seems to me that Mr. Groisman and the government in general are too ambitious, when they are calling what they are proposing as a pension reform,” he said.

According to the politician, an increase in average pensions or even a decrease in the Pension Fund deficit does not mean reforming the system. Initially, the government should ensure justice and equalize the imbalance due to which former governmental officials receive apparently over-revenues compared to ordinary citizens who may hardly make the both ends meet, getting minimal payments.

The representative of UKROP has stressed that pension reform should also include creation of alternative pension funds, which are the locomotive of the economy of many developed countries in the world, and a guarantee of decent payments for retirees who have stored up money during their lives.

Instead, the Verkhovna Rada debates about the first level of pension system, which can provide only minimal payments. “We almost do not talk about reforming the pension system in such a way that it could allow a person to live a decent life,” stressed Dmytro Simansky.

At the same time, the UKROP member considers that today it is generally not worthwhile to assess the effectiveness of the work of Parliament, as during almost three years after the election, the MPs have fulfilled less than 5% of the promises declared in the coalition agreement.
