All the countries bordering Russia should be prepared for armed provocations during the “West-2017” military exercises. This was stated by the Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko on the air of ZIK TV channel.

“All surrounding countries are obliged to respond, knowing that over the past decade, the Russian Federation has used at least two military exercises to organize armed aggression against neighboring states,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.

The diplomat has stressed that at the time Russia used military exercises in the Caucasus to occupy a part of Georgia. Subsequently, with the participation of the armed forces that were pulled in to Sochi allegedly for the strengthened security measures at the Olympic Games, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea was annexed.

At the same time, official statements from US and European high-ranking officials indicate that NATO is in a state of high alert.

According to Bohdan Yaremenko, there is no doubt that in case of the transformation of military exercises into an armed aggression, the political wing of the Alliance will quickly decide to use the armed forces. This is evidenced by the deployment of NATO contingents on the territory of the Baltic States and Poland.

The diplomat has added that now the number of NATO military in these countries is clearly not enough to conduct military operations against the Russian Federation. However, the decision of the North Atlantic Alliance can be seen as a clear signal that any attempt to invade the territory of these states by Russia will mean the immediate entry into the war of all member countries.
