The medical reform, which is now implemented by the authorities, is a victimization of the Ukrainians. Such an opinion was expressed by the Head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the UKROP party presidium Ihor Palytsya on the air of “Avers” TV channel.

He has explained that similar reform is now implemented in the countries where health insurance is practiced. However, it has not yet been introduced in Ukraine.

“This program works in the USA, but there is insurance medicine. People know that they pay insurance fees from their salary and receive all services in the hospital for free. But we do not have it. So, maybe first we should introduce insurance medicine? And then we will implement the western principles of medical work. Now this reform is not aimed at improving the lives of the Ukrainians,” said the representative of UKROP.

In addition, in the opinion of the politician, medical reform should be carried out by the Ukrainian experts: “Why now is a person from the USA with a dubious diploma acting as a minister and telling us what we should do? Is there no health minister in Ukraine who will go to the Verkhovna Rada with the program, approve it, the MPs will support it, and it will start to work?”

At the same time, Ihor Palytsya has drawn attention to the quality of provided services at rural health posts. According to him, at the moment, UKROP in Volyn is working to ensure the Internet connection at the rural health posts so that they could be linked to the district and regional hospitals. This will allow providing medical care on the spot, rather than sending patients to other health care facilities.

“The further fate of the rural health posts will be better, I hope. We hear about the money of the World Bank, about tens of millions of dollars for the construction and reconstruction of rural health posts. Unfortunately, it all ends with minimal repairs, and then nothing moves forward. But the posts do not have any equipment and specialists. The salaries are crummy, there is no housing for doctors. We need to work on filling these establishments with all the necessary medicines and equipment,” said the Head of Volyn Regional Council.

It is to be recalled that medical reform was repeatedly criticized by the MP from UKROP Iryna Konstankevych. She is convinced that this reform is aimed against the patients, since it actually deprives a significant part of citizens of access to treatment through the introduction of a number of paid services.

The MP also emphasized that implementation of this reform would lead to the closure of district medical facilities. In this way, citizens will be deprived of access to the right to free-of-charge treatment guaranteed by the Constitution. Most of the proposed changes will affect the villagers and pensioners.
