The Presidential Administration will block the election of Lutsk Mayor until the City Council secretary is not changed. This was announced on the air of “Avers” TV channel by the Head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the UKROP party presidium Ihor Palytsya.
“Recently, the MPs have told me that until the secretary of Lutsk City Council is not changed, the Presidential Administration will not allow to call the elections of mayor,” said the politician.
As it is known, the secretary of Lutsk City Council was re-elected after the death of then-city mayor, Mykola Romanyuk. “At that time the majority was formed in the City Council, which supported the new secretary. However, UKROP was accused of using illegal methods,” explained Ihor Palytsya.
At the same time, the Head of the Volyn Regional Council has stressed that such a situation is not a fight against him personally, the UKROP members or chairman of the UKROP faction in Lutsk City Council Ihor Polishchuk, who from March 21 to July 3, 2017, held the position of the City Council secretary. This is a war against the whole city, because Lutsk has entrusted with this team.
Ihor Palytsya has reminded that at the time due to unclear changes in electoral legislation only 15 deputies from UKROP got seats in the City Council, although the candidates of this political force had won in 41 districts out of 42.
“Lutsk residents decided that the city should be ruled by a 42-member deputy corps, which would include 41 UKROP members. But because of the legislation it did not happen. When the majority was formed in Lutsk City Council and the secretary elected, UKROP agreed with it and did not appeal to the courts,” said the politician.
He has also drawn attention to the positive changes in the city over the last year and a half: yards, roads and bridges have been renovated in Lutsk, Lesya Ukrainka Park was arranged, with the investment of UAH 8 million. The funds were provided by the benefactors after the relevant appeal of the city rulers.
“The funds were also received earlier, but they were not invested in the development of the city. Where they could go, you can only guess. The same as the reason why the old team wants to return to its seats using such lawless methods,” said Ihor Palytsya.
