Before deciding to deploy the UN peacekeepers in Donbas, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and diplomats advocating Poroshenko-Putin’s idea should explain who will finance the maintenance of ORDLO. The Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP, the Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko has written about it on his Facebook page.
“Well, what if you will manage to get round or somehow force Putin to accept the introduction of peacekeepers not only along the front line, but throughout the occupied territory of ORDLO, as well as in the area of the Ukrainian-Russian border, and when this is implemented, who will pay for the maintenance of ORDLO?” noted Bohdan Yaremenko.
The diplomat anticipates that Russia will refuse further funding of ORDLO, since it not only does not recognize itself as a party to the conflict, but also will lose control over the occupied territories. In its turn, the world community already finances the OSCE mission in Donbas, and in case of a positive decision will allocate additional funds for the deployment of the UN mission.
At the same time, the terrorist “republics” do not have any resources for self-sufficiency, besides, no country will agree to recognize their subjectivity. According to the representative of UKROP, in such a situation, all participants of negotiations will work together to shift responsibility for the maintenance of ORDLO on Ukraine.
“And then the following question arises: how long will we have to finance terrorists?” said Bohdan Yaremenko.
