Iryna Konstankevych has become acquainted with the legal education system in the USA

The MP from UKROP Iryna Konstankevych took part in an educational trip to the United States as a member of a delegation of representatives of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities of Ukraine. Participants of the tour have become acquainted with organization of the legal education system, the legal profession, as well as the rule of law in action.

During the trip, its participants have learned more about U.S. public policy in the field of quality assurance in legal education, the standards of such education and the internal policies of legal educational institutions. The delegation has also got acquainted with the work of the American Association of Lawyers.

“Qualitative legal education is the key to successful re-launch of the Ukrainian judicial system. Today, changes in the judiciary are the main and most urgent reform required by the Ukrainian society. Effective fight against corruption, prevention of violations of property rights, ensuring citizens’ rights to a fair trial – all this depends on successful reset of judicial system,” said Iryna Konstankevych.

During a visit to the United States, the Ukrainian delegation also attended Georgetown University Law Center, University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville and Washington and Lee University School of Law. In addition, the members of the Ukrainian delegation met with the representatives of the Law School Admission Council.

Iryna Konstankevych has noted that learning from the experience of providing high-quality legal education in the USA is important for Ukraine.

“Such trips allow us to establish inter-institutional and business relations with our American colleagues for the purpose of further professional communication and continuous exchange of experience,” stressed the parliamentarian.

Reference. An educational trip to the United States was held with the support of the New Justice Sector Reform Program, funded by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ukraine.
