More than 7 thousand people took part in the spectacular carnival on the Day of City in Dnipro on September 9. The event, which was held in Ukraine for the first time, was opened by Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov.
“Let’s start a new tradition of Dnipro Carnival,” said the Mayor.
A costumed demonstration of 35 columns passed along the streets of Dnipro. It was headed by columns of orchestras, biker clubs and retro cars. Everyone could join the carnival. They walked along their route accompanied by driving music.
And at the Festival Pier, the main concert venue of the city, the participants of the bright action held a flash mob and lined up in an enormous inscription “I love Dnipro”. Thus they made a declaration of love to the city.
Besides, on the occasion of the holiday in Dnipro there was organized a “Battle of the choirs”. 11 singing groups from different parts of Ukraine together performed the song “Detka, this is Dnepr”, which has been considered to be an unofficial hymn of Dnipro for more than three years.
In addition, the best military orchestras from different cities of Ukraine – Dnipro, Chernihiv, Novomoskovsk and Mykolaiv – also played for Dnipro residents.
Another bright event on the holiday was the gastronomic festival Dnepr Food Fest – 2017. City residents and guests of Dnipro could taste a variety of delicious meals and witness several edible records. In particular, during the fest there were cooked 3-meters long chips, a candy weighing one ton and a huge sunflower made of seeds. However, the records were not limited to gastronomy. Also, in Dnipro there was held the most massive fitness marathon in Ukraine with participation of 6,200 people.
