The Ukrainian authorities should lay down all their forces to the war against the Russian Federation, and not against their political opponents in the person of the opposition.

This was stated on September 5 by the chairman of the Advisory and Expert Group of the UKROP party Dmytro Simansky, who commented on the situation with the former head of Odessa Regional Administration, Mikheil Saakashvili, on the air of Espresso TV channel.

“Our authorities are consistently and very persistently, sometimes even in a talented way, driving themselves into a kind of zugzwang in this story with Saakashvili. I would advise the President to fight against Putin, and not against Saakashvili or the opposition as a whole,” said Dmytro Simansky.

The representative of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” has noted that the case of the former head of Odessa Regional State Administration could become the center of crystallization of the new opposition that will be united not in order to support Saakashvili, but to counteract the current authorities.

According to Dmytro Simansky, the state of affairs in the Ukrainian politics more and more resembles a TV show, when real political and social discussions are replaced by excessive idle talks. For example, the situation in the Verkhovna Rada, when it could not even vote for the agenda of its work, shows the serious problems of the coalition and its inability to make decisions. The absence of votes in Parliament put in doubt the adoption of systemic reforms announced by the authorities. But if the ruling factions continue to juggle the rules of parliamentary procedure and persuade the society in the existence of the coalition, without publishing real lists, the current Verkhovna Rada may not work till the end of its cadence, the politician said.
