The Yuzhmash plant has proved in its statement the absurdity of the charges made by the American newspaper The New York Times that the Ukrainian engines were allegedly used in the North Korean missiles.
This opinion was expressed by the Head of Kyiv city organization of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots – UKROP”, Chairman of the Board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund Bohdan Yaremenko on the air of Espreso TV channel.
“In my opinion, the response of “Yuzhmash” was quite an acceptable variant to answer to these charges, as they tried calmly, with names and certain figures, and concrete data, to prove the absurdity of the facts allegedly insisted by The New York Times. In this situation everything is very complicated with evidences – in fact, they are absent,” stressed Bohdan Yaremenko.
According to the representative of UKROP, the Ukrainian top-officials should have responded to these absurd accusations of the American edition with the statement that the USA are the strategic partner of our country, and Ukraine will not do anything that could affect America’s defense capabilities.
“The situation is not so catastrophic, and we see that the “hero of the occasion” has realized how badly he was used. I mean the statements made by Mr. Michael Elleman that he does not make any allegations against Ukraine and its government. Besides, no quick reaction of the American officials is also very significant. The Pentagon’s keeping silence shows that the Americans are not very concerned about this problem. There is no reaction, thank God, but the issue should be closed,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.
The politician is convinced that the appearance of the article in The New York Times is not accidental, so it was necessary to respond to it.
“This is a very serious situation, which has arisen for a good reason during the period of very high tensions between the United States and North Korea. Much of the evidence suggests the possibility of provoking or deliberately preparing a war between these countries. It is clear that the name of Ukraine did not sound for nothing. Even if there are no intruders from the special services, the situation could have very serious consequences,” said the UKROP representative.
The politician has also drawn attention to the lack of evidence for the charges expressed in the article, as well as to the fact that Elleman’s report, posted on the International Institute for Strategic Studies website, is significantly different from the published material, in which the journalist turned hypotheses and evidence-free versions into a “Ukrainian trace”.
