On July 26, before the beginning of the session of Kryvyi Rih City Council, there were clashes between the representatives of the municipal guard and the mothers of the fallen and captured soldiers, ATO participants and city residents. They wanted to come into the session hall in order to support the decision, submitted by the chairman of the UKROP faction in the City Council Mykola Kolesnyk, providing one-time financial aid to the disabled, families of captives, missing persons and those who were killed. A scuffle broke out due to the fact that the lists according to which people had to come into to the council, where this issue had to be considered at that time, suddenly disappeared, although the necessary information was provided by Mykola Kolesnyk in advance.
“They refused even to let pass wives and mothers. The police and Vilkul’s municipal guard began to beat both women and fighters. We got into the session hall, but the “rats” fled from Kryvyi Rih City Council,” commented on the UKROP member.
In the session hall Mykola Kolesnyk appealed to the deputies calling to stop violence in the building of the City Executive Committee. He was supported by the deputies, who were present in the hall. And the Mayor Yuriy Vilkul announced a break and left the session hall. During the incident, the deputy from UKROP Mykola Kolesnyk was poured brilliant green. The attacker was detained on the scene.
“When they try to beat us, it is no surprise, but we will not forgive when the mothers of the fighters who defend our state are beaten. City authorities are afraid of people’s presence at the sessions,” notes Mykola Kolesnyk.
Subsequent to the results of the clashes, the head of the NGO “Bereginya” Alla Makukh submitted a report to the police on law-enforcers’ inaction. UKROP in Kryvyi Rih will make every effort to ensure that those who were beating people are punished.
It is to be recalled, on July 21, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that he does not exclude new suspicions to the leadership of Kryvyi Rih City Council. According to him, in Kryvyi Rih City Council there was established a stable group, which was ruling using illegal methods. The Prosecutor General emphasized that the activities of the City Mayor Yuriy Vilkul meet the criteria of a criminal offense, and there are a lot of evidences, facts and documents that are being considered by the investigation.
