The extraordinary elections of the Mayor of Lutsk, which had to be held on September 24, are postponed for a few more months because of the unwillingness of the party “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” to support the decision on calling the elections. The MP, Head of the UKROP political council Taras Batenko has written it on his Facebook page.
The politician has reminded that after the death of the previous Mayor Mykola Romanyuk, the city has no head for more than half a year. The MPs from Lutsk – Iryna Konstankevych and Ihor Guz have repeatedly called on the Parliament to adopt decision on fixing the elections on September 24. This is the date recommended by the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government. Speaker of Parliament Andriy Parubiy put to vote a draft resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on early elections in almost 50 city and district councils, including Lutsk City Council. But after several attempts, it could not get the required number of votes.
“The reason for it was Lutsk. And also the fact that the BPP faction is not going to call the elections there, because they consider it as “their own city”. This deliberate impeding of vote postpones the elections that had to be held on September 24, for a few months more. The delay is connected with egoism and fear of the leaders of the BPP to lose these elections,” said Taras Batenko.
