The MPs from the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots – UKROP” will draft a bill providing that the military dues are directed exclusively for strengthening Ukraine’s defense capacity. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Oleksandr Dubinin.
“Specific funds – for specific expenditures. The Ukrainian people are ready to support our defenders, and not the whims of the officials,” wrote Oleksandr Dubinin on his Facebook page on July 11.
The MP has noted that following the results of long correspondence with several ministries and executive authorities, he has managed to find out that the statewide military dues, introduced in 2014, were directed to the revenues of the general fund of the state budget. Therefore, these funds do not have any intended purpose and may be used for any needs.
“We hope that by paying these specified dues, we support our country’s defense capacity in this difficult period, and the Cabinet of Ministers uses the received funds as it considers necessary,” said Oleksandr Dubinin.
The MP has also published the official responses of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the Accounting Chamber, stating the absence of specific purpose of the military dues, regardless of the title.
