At the session on June 29, Lviv City Council at the second attempt adopted an appeal to the Parliament, the Cabinet of Ministers, regional and city councils to support the draft laws № 5561 and № 5562, regulating the market of used cars in Ukraine. 41 deputies voted for the initiative of the deputies from the UKROP faction.

“The proposed bills should improve current Ukrainian legislation, and harmonize it with the European standards, taking into account socio-economic needs of the society, economic climate and situation at the automotive market, as well as financial condition of the citizens of Ukraine. Under such conditions, the Ukrainians will have an opportunity to buy an old but more comfortable and safe European car,” said Ihor Zinkevych, a civic activist and head of the NGO “Varta-1”, member of the City Council from UKROP, who read out the appeal.

It is to be recalled, on June 28 a rally in support of the aforementioned draft laws, prepared by the MPs from UKROP together with the NGO “ZAVTRA” and the community “Free people have cars”, started in Lviv region. The column of cars is headed by the legendary “Zaporozhets” Mykola – the car produced in 1991, for which the activists have got customs clearance in Poland in order to clearly demonstrate the inadequacy of Ukraine’s current legislation on environmental requirements for the used cars. During this weekend the activists will visit Gorodok, Rudky, Sambir, Drohobych, Truskavets, Boryslav, Mykolaiv and Novy Rozdil.
