Lviv City Council requires an audit of all expenses for waste disposal and dumping from the city. This decision was supported by 55 deputies present at the so-called “garbage session” on June 29, 2017. The deputies from the UKROP faction insisted that the item on audit should be included to the draft resolution “On organization of solid waste disposal in Lviv for the period until 30.06.2019”. According to it, Lviv City Council will refer on this issue to the State Audit Service of Ukraine.
“We have supported the resolution of Lviv City Council “On organization of solid waste disposal in the Lviv city until 2019,” said Ihor Telishevsky, the head of the UKROP faction in Lviv City Council. – But before talking about settling the issue of garbage collapse in the capital of Galychyna, it is necessary to carry out a detailed analysis of the efficiency of spent funds allocated to the municipality over the past year, after the tragedy in Grybovychi. It is about hundreds of millions hryvnias from the city budget, which could be directed to social infrastructure, support of public initiatives, general development and innovations in Lviv. Instead, we were forced to allocate funds so that Lviv garbage be transported across Ukraine and thrown into ravines, forest bands, quarries, and one-day firms receive millions of budgetary funds for this “disposal of solid waste”.
Ihor Telishevsky thanked the deputies of the City Council for supporting the UKROP’s initiative on the audit of all expenses for waste disposal and reminded that for UKROP the garbage issue is extremely important and painful: last year, in a tragedy in Grybovychi, the rescuer Andriy Vnenkevych, a deputy of Zhovkva Town Council from UKROP, died.
