For three years the Ukrainian authorities have not been able to find the ways to resolve a conflict in the east, but they want to convince society otherwise through the adoption of the law on de-occupation of Donbas.
The member of the UKROP political council, Chairman of the Board of Maidan of Foreign Affairs Fund Bohdan Yaremenko stated it on June 22 in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel.
“There is no issue that may be resolved by this law. The authorities simulate activity, as they do not know what to do and want us to believe that they have the answers,” said Bohdan Yaremenko. According to the diplomat, the authorities resort to an astute manipulation, calling the events in the east a hybrid war, as since the regular military formations of the Russian Federation appeared on the territory of Ukraine, it has become an armed conflict. Contrary to the current legislation, which envisages introduction of a martial law in case of military aggression, the Ukrainian leadership made up a lot of hybrid decisions, in particular on the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation. According to the representative of UKROP, the true purpose of the law on de-occupation is an attempt to legalize numerous violations of the Constitution that have been made by the authorities since 2014. That is why the text of the document is carefully concealed from society, which is also inadmissible, because the laws cannot be secret. Instead of holding a frank discussion about provisions of the document within the country, the Ukrainian legislators coordinate their drafts with the American administration.
There is also another alarming fact – the absence of any mention of the annexed Crimea in the text of the bill – as if the peninsula had already become the subject of political bargaining.
“It is not clear why we are talking now only about Donbas. The authorities have already “sold” the Crimea? Why does not anyone mention it in this context?” noted Bohdan Yaremenko.
