The MP from the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots – UKROP”, Professor Iryna Konstankevych has visited the German University of Vechta and lectured there within the framework of the International Week – 2017. The representative of UKROP has told about social policy and political culture in Ukraine.

“The audience consisted mostly of people who know very little about our country. These were students in the specialties “political science”, “sociology”, “culturology” and “history”. My task was to communicate the essence of the Ukrainian policy through its practical component. Professor Peter Nitschke, curator of the topic “Politics”, before my lecture presented Ukraine as a Central European state. It is extremely important that we are perceived not as a country that is somewhere on the periphery, but as an important actor of the European Commonwealth,” said Iryna Konstankevych.

The MP has focused, in particular, on a visa-free regime, Ukraine’s historical affiliation with the European community, war in the east and social policy in our country. The greatest surprise of the students was evoked by meager social standards, the Ukrainians have to live on.

Iryna Konstankevych has also stressed the low level of trust of citizens in the authorities and dwelled on the newest history of Ukraine through the prism of revolutions.

“The students have made a conclusion that over 25 years our country has got through a bigger way than some countries may go over the centuries. They see Ukrainians as a nation of dignity and believe that we have a good potential. Ukraine’s assertion in Europe should go through organic, soft, and not aggressive methods, primarily through culture, education and science,” concluded the UKROP representative.
