Low voter turnout in the mayoral elections in Starobilsk on June, 11 shows that people are disappointed with the power and do not believe in the possibility of change. This was stated by Nataliya Ivashko who ran for mayor of the city with the UKROP’s support, commenting on the election results.

“It’s a shame when the fate of the city is decided by a quarter of its residents. At the same time, I want to thank those voters who came to the polls and supported my candidacy. You may still count on my attention and help,” said Nataliya Ivashko.

The UKROP representative also expressed hope that the new mayor and his team will join the good things, initiated by the activists and volunteers of the city. In particular, organization of recreation for the children, their trips throughout Ukraine, patriotic events and so on. In these issues, as well as in promotion of Starobilsk within Ukraine, for the last three years were actively engaged the representatives the local “Ukrainian Association of Patriots”.

“I wish our initiatives were continued and were not rejected as unnecessary by the new authorities. We will monitor closely the path chosen for Starobilsk. Although the fact that most residents who came to the polls voted for the candidate who supported the Opposition Bloc gives reason for concern,” added Nataliya Ivashko.

The UKROP representative also does not rule out that it was a low voter turnout that made possible the revenge of the old forces in a frontline city. However, she said that the patriots will work harder to prevent the spread of separatist epidemic in Ukraine.

As it is known, according to the election results in Starobilsk the head of Luhansk regional organization of the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots – UKROP” Nataliya Ivashko has taken the third place with 11% of votes, the second was the director of a local food goods plant Svitlana Nemtseva. And the secretary of Starobilsk city council Yana Litvinova won the elections with the result of 1562 votes.

Thus, the “Ukrainian Association of Patriots” has become the only democratic party in Starobilsk that has managed to come close to the victory.
