The bill № 6558 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, and if it is adopted, for women who used the right to early retirement after the age of 55, from January 1, 2018 the pensions will be established at the level of subsistence minimum for persons who lost their working capacity. And with increasing subsistence minimum pensions will also increase. On such payments may count those Ukrainian women who have at least 30 years of work experience and who were dismissed after the pension reform by Mykola Azarov’s government.

The draft law on amendments to Section XV of “Final Provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance” securing women’s right to a well-deserved retirement” was prepared by the MPs from UKROP Iryna Konstankevych, Victor Shevchenko, Taras Batenko, Oleksandr Dubinin, Valentyn Didych, Oleksandr Shevchenko and Vitaliy Kupriy.

According to the authors of the document, the representatives of this category of pensioners have repeatedly appealed to them, complaining about the amount of payments that was set for them and decreased by 0.5 percent for each full or partial month of voluntary-compulsory early retirement. So now most of them are living below the poverty line, as they get an average pension of 945 hryvnias. The financial situation of this category of pensioners has become even more difficult after increase in consumer prices and utility tariffs.

“Adoption of the proposed draft law will facilitate implementation of the state’s duty prescribed by the article 46 of the Constitution of Ukraine to guarantee the right to social protection to the citizens of our country, including the right to assistance in cases of complete, partial or temporary disability, widowhood, unemployment for reasons beyond their control, as well as in old age and in other cases provided by law,” states the explanatory note of the bill.

It is to be recalled, the subsistence minimum for those persons who lost their working capacity from May 1, 2017 is 1312 hryvnias.
