On its session on June, 1 Lviv Regional Council voted for the decision to appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Parliament and the Cabinet of Ministers on formation of a civilized market of used cars. The draft decision was initiated by the deputies from UKROP. The Regional Council also called on the deputies of the other regions to express their position on this issue.
The appeal, in particular states that in Lviv region the owners of cars with foreign registration have repeatedly protested near the international border checkpoints, blocked highways, held rallies demanding to regulate import of the used cars to Ukraine. In order to reduce social tension among people Lviv Regional Council proposes to submit for consideration of the Verkhovna Rada the bills № 5561 and № 5562, which have been registered in Parliament by the MPs from UKROP. These documents are intended to improve the current Ukrainian legislation and harmonize it with European standards. At the same time they take into consideration social and economic needs of the society, as well as the situation in the economy and automotive market and financial condition of Ukrainian citizens. Also the MPs propose to withdraw from Parliament the bill № 4932, which provides double growth of the rates of common customs duty levied at checkpoints across the state border.
“Adoption of the bills № 5561 and № 5562 will bring an opportunity to create a civilized market of used cars, increase revenues to Ukraine’s state budget and unshadow automotive industry,” states the deputy of Lviv Regional Council from UKROP Petro Zhukrovskyi.
