The Crimean Tatars deserve proclamation of political and administrative-territorial autonomy as a part of Ukraine.
This was stated by the chairman of the political council of the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP”, MP Taras Batenko in his address commemorating the 73th anniversary of the Crimean Tatars’ deportation.
“We are more than convinced that the Crimean Tatars are together with Ukraine. We believe that this people deserves an administrative-territorial and political autonomy, and the Ukrainian authorities should do everything possible for it,” said Taras Batenko.
According to the politician, at the same time after de-occupation of the Crimean peninsula the Ukrainian authorities should ensure high representation of indigenous people in the central government. The MP has noted that the Crimean Tatars are Ukraine’s closest allies who support us and take a challenging part in peninsula liberation from the occupation of the so-called “Russkiy mir” (Russian world). Taras Batenko also expressed condolences because of cyclical repetition of the tragic history when the totalitarian regime, represented by Vladimir Putin, continues the notorious policy of Joseph Stalin towards indigenous people of Crimea.
“We, the “Ukrainian Patriots Association”, sincerely grieve with this people after the tragic events,” said the MP.
