Ukraine’s political leaders do not fulfill their duties, as they are not matured to their positions. This was stated by the chairman of the Board of Maidan of Foreign Affairs Fund, UKROP member Bohdan Yaremenko on the air of Rudenko.ONLINE.UA on May 15.

“Ukraine’s political leaders are not matured to their positions and to the role of national leaders in such a difficult situation. These people do not make decisions that are obvious and follow the logic of the situation, the spirit and letter of the law,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.

According to the diplomat, the law on defense states that for repelling the armed aggression Ukraine has to introduce martial law with the simultaneous formation of General Headquarters and mobilization of human and economic resources. Putting the country on a war footing has some economic risks and cannot last for a long time, but it is the only way to gather the required amount of power for a quick and effective solution. Bohdan Yaremenko has noted that prolongation of conflict with Russia for years will result in Ukraine’s depletion, because only during the last year the armed forces have lost more than two thousand soldiers on the frontline. The choice of the Ukrainian authorities that cannot find proper solution because of lacking political will does not lead to victory, but delay the terrible end in time, said the UKROP representative.

The diplomat has also stressed the need to prohibit interstate movement with the Russian Federation. Entry of the Russians to Ukraine has to be possible only with the special permissions of the Defense Ministry or the Security Service. After the victory of the Revolution of Dignity it became clear that the most important task of our domestic policy is to unite the nation. However, the Ukrainian authorities are now doing the opposite – to win the election they are breaking political sector to pieces, searching for enemies there.

“If we talk about all of us, about the nation, our biggest threat is not even Russia, but the Ukrainian authorities,” said Bohdan Yaremenko.
