Recently the deputies of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council from the UKROP faction and their colleagues from coalition have initiated convening of the Regional Council Presidium. The representatives of law enforcement and security agencies of Dnipropetrovsk region were also invited to the meeting for the report on investigation into the events of May 9.

Chief of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region Vitaliy Hluhoverya and Head of the Security Service in the region Eduard Kritsyn have assured that they will do everything to make police officers work only in the legal field, so that the provocations could not be repeated.

At the same time, the head of UKROP faction in Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Vladlen Tymoshenko has noted that clashes on May 9, 2017 and January 26, 2014 occurred according to one scenario, which is an evidence of a huge provocation.

UKROP representatives have also expressed concern that, as in the situation with the events on January 26, 2014, this case will not be brought to an end.

“Everyone understands who led the column, who gave orders – it is obvious. A proper question has been raised: why the police officers who gave commands to “titushkas” were not detained, as well as the police officials? Together with my attorney association I will protect the victims and do everything in order to make the investigation effective!” said the deputy of the UKROP faction in the Regional Council Vitaliy Poghosyan.

While the deputy from UKROP, chairman of the public council of the Security Service in Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleg Moroz has urged the MPs to legislatively adopt prohibition of St. George ribbon so that police could punish the perpetrators.

“Only then will we give free rein to the Security Service and the others. The service can work only if there is an open appeal, for example, to kill Ukrainians. And for the thoughts, people have in their minds, they cannot be imprisoned. Is not it obvious that this is a propaganda campaign?! However it is not possible to judge anyone for this, we cannot bring anyone to justice. Let the Parliament give us the law!” said Oleg Moroz.

In their turn, the representatives of the Regional Council have assured that the Regional Council will initiate an appeal to the Ministry of Justice and the Verkhovna Rada with the demand to amend the law which will prevent activities of organizations that threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity and undermine its statehood.

It is to be recalled, while laying flowers to the monument of Glory in Dnipro on May 9 the clashes occurred between ATO veterans and young athletic men, who were guarding the Opposition bloc points and the so-called “March of victory”. They were caused by the party symbols of the Opposition bloc and St. George ribbons, brought by the participants of the column. Police interfered in fight and used batons. Dozens of people were injured, and two war veterans were hospitalized with head injuries.
